Today marks the beginning of the Kenneth M. Grebe Foundation's inaugural Creative Practice Grant cycle.

We believe meaningful creative work deserves meaningful support. These unrestricted grants are designed to invest in artists, makers, writers, performers, creative collectives, and community arts organizations whose work strengthens the cultural life of our region.

Applications are open through August 31, 2026.

Take time with your application. Share the work you're proud of. We'll review every submission with care and respect.

We are working to establish a permanent home for exhibitions, workshops, performances, and community gatherings—a space rooted in Ken's legacy and built for generations to come.

While a recent property opportunity has passed, our vision has not.

Every contribution strengthens our ability to act when the right space becomes available, helping us build a lasting home for artists, creativity, and community.

Together, we're not simply purchasing a building—we're creating a place where Ken's spirit of generosity, curiosity, and creative connection can continue to grow.

Grant Notes · Week One One of the questions we most anticipate since announcing our inaugural Creative Practice Grants is: “What makes a strong application?” It’s a great question. The answer is probably simpler than you expect. We aren’t looking for polished grant writers. We’re looking for people who are genuinely committed to their creative practice. Show us the work you’re already making. Tell us your story. Share work that feels like you. Help us understand what this grant would make possible. Above all... Tell us the truth. Every Tuesday during grant season, we’ll be sharing a few thoughts to help artists prepare their applications. Applications are now open through August 31. Learn more through the link in our bio. Creative Practice Grants are now open. It's bigger than us. Today marks the beginning of the Kenneth M. Grebe Foundation's inaugural Creative Practice Grant cycle. For the past year, we've gathered artists around conversations, exhibitions, performances, and shared experiences. Today, we take the next step. Our Creative Practice Grants provide unrestricted funding because we believe artists are the experts in their own creative lives. Whether that support helps purchase materials, create time, access equipment, pursue research, or simply continue making the work, it belongs in the hands of the people doing it. If you're an artist, maker, writer, performer, creative collective, or community arts organization in our region, we invite you to apply. Applications are open now through August 31, 2026. The Art of Showing Up Happy Hour Sketch Club still gathers every Wednesday. Artists of every experience level continue to pull up a chair, open a sketchbook, share ideas, and spend an evening making art together. This beautiful window exhibition @theupstairstudios in Phoenixville, curated by @brookesteytler , honors the creative legacy of Matthew Dougherty and Kenneth M. Grebe while celebrating a community that continues to grow. Alongside works by Matt and Ken, you’ll find artwork by current organizer, Dave Yasenchack, and fellow Sketch Club members whose creative lives have been shaped by those Wednesday evenings. Brooke’s thoughtful reflection reminds us that art isn’t only about what we create—it’s also about the friendships, encouragement, and generosity we find along the way. Preserving an artist's legacy isn't only about exhibitions. It's also about the quiet hours spent making sure the work—and the stories attached to it—remain accessible for the future. A Tradition Begins. Today, we're proud to announce the launch of the Kenneth M. Grebe Foundation's inaugural Creative Practice Grants. We believe creativity flourishes when artists are trusted. Our Creative Practice Grants are unrestricted grants supporting artists, creative collectives, and community arts organizations with an established creative practice. Rather than funding a specific project, these grants invest in people—providing support that recipients may use in whatever way best helps them continue making meaningful work. During our inaugural season, the Foundation will award up to $3,000 in unrestricted funding to artists throughout our regional community. These are not scholarships, nor are they awards for a single project. They are unrestricted grants that recognize an ongoing commitment to creative practice. Grant guidelines and applications will be released later this month, with recipients announced during our annual celebration honoring Ken's life and legacy this September.
