A Tradition Begins

Every organization reaches moments that define not just what it does, but what it believes.

Today marks one of those moments for the Kenneth M. Grebe Foundation.

We are proud to announce the launch of our inaugural Creative Practice Grants, beginning what we hope will become an annual tradition of investing in artists, creative collectives, and community arts organizations throughout our region.

From the beginning, the Foundation has been built around a simple belief: creativity strengthens communities. We have seen it in exhibitions, conversations, workshops, shared meals, quiet sketches, public gatherings, and unexpected collaborations. Art has a remarkable way of creating connection, resilience, and belonging.

This grant program grows from that same belief.

Unlike many funding opportunities, our Creative Practice Grants are unrestricted. Rather than asking artists to justify every expense or fit their work into a predetermined project, we are choosing to invest in people who have already demonstrated a commitment to their creative practice.

We believe artists are the best judges of what they need to keep making their work.

For some, that may mean purchasing materials or equipment. For others, it may mean recording an album, mounting an exhibition, paying studio rent, traveling for research, covering childcare costs, or simply creating the time and space necessary to continue making meaningful work.

These grants are not scholarships, nor are they awards for a single project. They are an investment in sustained creative practice.

Over the coming weeks, we'll share grant guidelines, eligibility information, important dates, and the application process. This inaugural grant season will culminate in the announcement of recipients during our annual celebration honoring Ken's life and legacy this September.

This is only the beginning.

Here's to the people who keep showing up to make something.
