Some creative communities become part of who we are.

An ongoing window exhibition at The Upstairs Studio Artists in downtown Phoenixville celebrates the enduring spirit of Happy Hour Sketch Club, founded by artist Matthew F. Dougherty. For years, the group welcomed artists of every experience level to gather, draw together, and build friendships that extended far beyond the sketchbook.

Curated by artist Brooke Steytler, the exhibition honors the creative legacy of both Matthew Dougherty and Kenneth M. Grebe through a thoughtful selection of their artwork, accompanied by Brooke's moving reflection on the friendships and community that Sketch Club fostered. A small selection of additional sketch club member work is also included, representing a few of the many artists whose creative life was shaped by those Wednesday evenings.

Visible from Bridge Street, the exhibition is a reminder that while Matthew and Ken are deeply missed, the community they helped create continues to inspire artists today.
